Washington Apple Crumb

Perfect dessert for the whole family made from fresh Washington apples and topped with whipped cream!

YIELD: 4 servings

Apple Filling

    • 4 Golden Delicious apples, cored and sliced
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/4 cup hot water

Crumble Topping

    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup flour
    • 1 egg, well-beaten
    • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder


    1. Preheat oven to 400 oF.
    2. Place apple slices in a casserole baking dish. Cover with sugar, cinnamon and water.
    3.  To prepare the batter topping, mix flour with egg, butter and baking powder in a large bowl. Pour over apples and bake for 20 minutes or until top is golden.
    4. Serve with whipped cream, if desired. Garnish with apple slices, candied cherries and mint leaves.
